Diploma in radiology and imaging technology is a two year diploma program which aims towards a basic understanding of various aspects of radio diagnostic technology and medical imaging techniques. Students will get through training about the use of radiographic equipment, learn how to position patients to get the best images and learn to critique images. Students will develop knowledge and skills such as anatomy and physiology, examination techniques, patient care, professionalism, radiation safety and protection and x-ray equipment.

Programme Educational Objectives

  • To prepare students to succeed in employment/profession and/or to pursue graduation in radiology and imaging technology.
  • Students will have knowledge of radiological and imaging technology required for diagnosis of various ailments.
  • To become technical communicators, orally and in writing, and effective team members capable of working effectively in groups in examining patients of various age groups.
  • To provide student with an academic environment that fosters excellence, transparency, leadership and promote awareness of life-long learning.
  • To enhance their clinical skills and embrace new radiological and imaging technologies through self-directed professional development.

  • Plan, implement and evaluate programme to address identified medical radiology and imaging technology needs in corporation with patients.

  • Demonstrate the leadership role to coordinate, delegate and supervise care safely, manage risk and remain accountable for the care given actively; involve and respect others’ contributions to integrated person-centred care.

  • Describe the ethical and legal bases for medical radiology and imaging technology services.

Some of the major areas that will be covered are human anatomy and physiology, basics physics including radiological physics, physics of newer imaging modalities, quality control in radiology and radiation safety, radiographic and image processing techniques, contrast & special radiography procedures english & communication skills.

  • Diploma holders in medical radiology and imaging technology can pursue their career as radiographers, radiologic technologists, nuclear medicine technologist, x-ray technicians or ultrasound technicians.

Entry Requirements:

Candidate shall have passed 10+2 in science stream with physics and chemistry as compulsory subject along with one of the math/biology.
